What this is, and what it is not
These are city records, not an inspection by Blueflo. Every item shows its source and the date it was last checked.
What a card is
A summary of what New York City's public records say about a building, on the date each record was last checked. Every item names its source dataset and its as-of date. Nothing on a card is our opinion of a building.
What it is not
- Not an inspection. Nobody from Blueflo has visited the building.
- Not a warranty or a guarantee. Records can be incomplete, late or wrong.
- Not the City’s. Blueflo is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the City of New York or any of its agencies; the records are the City’s, and the summary is ours.
- Not a grade. We publish no score, rating or letter. Statuses describe records, not condition.
- Not for tenant screening. Using this to evaluate a person is prohibited by the terms of use. Cards are about buildings.
What we leave out on purpose
- Names, tenancy, and anything about who lives somewhere. Never a name, never who lived where or for how long, never whether rent was paid. City records about an apartment ARE published where the city names one — a complaint is filed against a place, and a complaint usually exists because somebody living there asked the city for help. That is the opposite of a mark against them, and it is why the terms prohibit using any of this to judge a person.
- Individual owners' names. Companies are named; individuals appear as “individual owner”.
- Crime, school and demographic data. On a housing site those raise fair-housing concerns. We stick to the building’s physical and legal condition.
- Valuations and listings. Those belong to other sites and we link out.
When something is wrong
Every building page, every apartment page and every record’s own page has a “Report an error” link. We log every report and its outcome, and aim to acknowledge within 48 hours. Where the city’s record is itself wrong, correcting it with the agency is what changes the card: we refresh from the source.
Look up a building to report something specific.
Freshness
Sources refresh on their own schedules — housing and buildings records often daily, parcel and flood data rarely. Each fact shows the date it was last checked, and goes visibly stale rather than quietly ageing. See the full list of datasets.
